This morning we attended Cornerstone Church down the road from the church we are staying. It was an amazing service and God really spoke through the preacher helping us to realize that Christ has given us the keys to His Kingdom here on earth. Now it's time for us to show others the doors to that kingdom. It was really cool to hear this message on the first day of us serving in the area!
Then we spent a couple of hours hanging out in a local park. Now think of our regular park and forget it. This park was approximately the size of two Connection Gyms, surrounded by a 10 foot fence with razor wire all around it at the top, and when we showed up around 2PM on Sunday, no one was there. This is not your typical "park" as there was a lack of grass, trees, or mulch. However, about 15 minutes into our time a few kids showed up and we began to hang out and invited them to our Dinner Club on Tuesday.
Later, we went to Cast your Cares, a ministry focused on ministry to the homeless, to make some Hot Dogs for the homeless of the Kensington Avenue area. It was a truly great sight to see our students step up and serve the forgotten, "dirty" people of that area.
We will be having pictures up tomorrow (Monday) afternoon for your viewing enjoyment!
The team has gelled very well and many students are seeing God in the work that they are doing!
Continue to pray that students would experience brokeness for the people of Philly. That they would see people with God's eyes and heart.
God's up to something!
Coke. Out.
