It's been 6 days...

It's been 6 days since I have posted last. Wow, guess that's what happens when you don't prioritize blogging! There have been many things that I have been learning in the last 6 days. Here are some highlights:

1. Ministry is about People not Programs
I've known this for a long while now, but it's really beginning to come to fruition. If you think that you're getting into this thing to create some cool program. Get a different job. People are freaking sweet and deserve much more than just a program. Sure, programs can help people recognize some of the things that they need, but that's the extent of it. I don't want to be known as being the guy that helped create some sweet programs that everybody wanted to go to and yet nobody changed.

2. Legacy is Lived not Manufactured
Last Friday, I went to a funeral. It was fantastic. Long, but freaking fantastic. The coolest thing for me spurred out of the message and conversation that I was part of afterwards. It centered on "What is our Legacy?" After seeing the funeral and the size of the family and those that shared and their involvement in the family and the people that this man touched, it was made clear to me that you can't just plan out your legacy. God kind of presents you with opportunities and we just have to go with it. Legacy is Lived not Manufactured.


3. You Better Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself
This is a stupid comment from a stupid movie, but there is a bunch of truth in it that surpasses many things that we consider standards in our culture. At the very moment that we think we have something "down" or "mastered," we better watch it because right around the corner is coming a time when you fall flat on your face. Whether it is in your spiritual disciplines or even your job, you better check cause you just might be in a wreck!

Significance vs. Greatness

I saw this quote on Twitter yesterday and it made me think of the generation that exists in Senior High right now. There is something of a crossroads between the desire to impact this country, this world for some kind of common good. Some are united under the banner of Jesus Christ, while others are just ready to make a difference in the world, maybe not even realizing that they are the hands and feet of Jesus at times.

So, do you believe that you can be a part of that generation? Do think that you can play a role int hat kind of a generation?

I'm confident in every single person that reads this blog and their ability to play a role. I'm not sure what those roles are in every case, but everyone has a role. How do you support something significant? How do you build them up and prepare, support and love on a group that wants to be better, that wants to make a difference? I think we do it by asking this question:

Why do I need to be significant? 

Perhaps our own personal insignificance can benefit God's significance. His Glory.
